Fall Colors

I always love the colors of fall - especially those of New England. I wanted to paint something a little abstract but which depicted the colors of the season. For this watercolor I used aureolin yellow, raw sienna, french ultramarine, burnt sienna and sap green. the size is 10.5" X 7.25".

  2. Jean, you are so successful in creating the sense of place. This is a cheerful fall scene. I grew up in Vermont and this year was there for the height of the colors. You definitely nailed "Fall."

I tried to comment a week ago on your painting of the tree on the cliff and my computer locked up. I see my comment never made it. Let me recap here -- that painting is very reminiscent of Wayne Thibaud's work recently on display in a large retrospective at the San Jose Museum of Art. You are in good company, in my opinion.

    Keep up the good work.

  8. This is the subject I attempt every fall and always fail": usually being too stiff.
The sense of light and movement in these trees is gorgeous, and I especially love the calligraphic way you've handled the trunks. Stunning!
